"The location was good for my purpose in Sacramento. From the outside the hotel looks very nice. The rooms have clearly not been updated in quite some time. Does have a smoke smell in general. All but one staff member I came in contact with were very nice. "

"To start with the positive- the room was very clean and the beds were comfortable, and the staff was phenomenal! It was a great place to stay for a night. The carpet and wallpaper in the room and hallway was a bit dated, and neither parking nor breakfast were included."

"House keepers where rude ! My daughter just got back from surgery so i requested an.extra hour they gave me 30 min and then the house keepers kept knocking on the door and would not give us the 30 min 😞 my daughter after just getting out of surgery was in a lot of pain with being rushed and was stressed out."

"The airport shuttle was on time and was a nice modern shuttle and the room was very clean."

"My air conditioner in the room was so dirty, it was blowing out dust which caused my allergies to activate. The walkways were SO hot, no air conditioning. The gym air conditioning was broken. There was a long line at check in with only 1 person working, so I stood in line forever. I will probably not stay at this property again in the future or recommend. "

"Clean, decent room for the price, staff ok but distracted, didn't use the pool. Some rooms under renovation and had plastic in the windows. No elevator. Breakfast was the saddest muffins and coffee. "

"I travel to around 20 business conferences a year and have been staying at The Citizen for the past 3 years when I come for the annual association event. It is really one of my top 5 hotels of the year even though I barely slept this year due to the noise outside on the street. I just look at it as the crazy world we live in and I was perched high in an ivory (politically inspired tower). The whole experience is fantastic year after year. A blend of homeless, old world charm and great food and service. I love everything about the experience Sacramento has to offer. The crumbling neighborhoods of failed politics with the comfort of old world style and class with politics front and center reminding me, living with the Haves is so so sweet!! "
